General Manager, X2 River Kwai Resort, Kanchanaburi
Vatel offers a very strong and credible hospitality programme for both academic and practical training. This helped us gain to further knowledge and fulfill our potential, whilst also giving us the confidence to conduct internships and gain good employment positions upon graduation. Vatel’s curriculum focuses on a yearly internship in Thailand and in the 3rd year an international one, which provides students with the opportunity to gain real EXPERIENCE while we are studying. This kind of innovative hospitality programme is very difficult to find, especially in Thailand.
Learning about all areas of hospitality operations is very important for any hotel business, however I mainly focused on Front Office and Food & Beverage departments.Another highlight of the Vatel programme is that in my 3rd and 4th year I was able to intern in France. My 3rd internship for 4 months was in the F&B department at the Boscolo Plaza Hotel, Nice. And my last (4thyear) internship was for 6 months in the Front Office Department at the Mercure Paris Gare de Lyon, Paris.
The knowledge and experiences that I gained from Vatel helped me to work effectively and understand the hospitality business. After 4 years of internship, I had a clear direction for my career path and to fulfill my dreams. Finally I started my career as an Assistant Front Office at Ibis Bangkok Sathorn, Thailand in 2008, and thereafter my career blossomed.
In 2016, I started my new challenge as a General Manager (GM) of X2 River Kwai Resort, a small “Luxury Modern Resort” in Kanchanaburi under X2’s brand. I am therefore responsible for all the operations at the resort, maintain a high standard of service and guest satisfaction, along with company business and profitability.
Thank you VATEL and Silpakorn to nurture students’ talent and provide a challenging programme for us. The school contains a large amount of specialized knowledge for hospitality management and I am still using the knowledge that I gained from Vatel on a daily basis today.
